IV Therapy LVN

Our Introduction to Home Care Nursing course is designed to provide California nursing professionals with the most current practices and protocols being used in the field today. Common patient conditions and treatments are explained, and Start of Care documentation procedures are also addressed. Methods of fundamental intercommunication between providers are explored to better monitor patient management and optimize overall health.

This class will focus on physical assessment, care of Patient, frequently seen scenarios in Home Care, heart failure, COPD, diabetes, bladder dysfunction, neurological disorders, infusion, central line care, and pressure ulcers.

This is a three-day course that touches on a range of topics, all vital to the better care and management of patients in a home setting. Upon completion of this course a provider will receive a total of three Certificates of Completion awarded by Genesis Medical Education Consultants:

-Tracheostomy and Mechanical Ventilation

-Wound Care: Prevention, Assessment, and Management

-Home Health Nursing Essentials

LVNs receive 25 CEHs.
RNs receive 25 CEHs.

This 3 day course will cover the following areas (but not limited to):

- Responsibilities of the Home Care Nurse, Admitting a Patient to Home Care, Performing the Initial Visit, Patient Assessment, Infection Control in the Home, Development and Implementation of the Plan of Care

- Respiratory Care, Oxygen Therapy in the home, Ventilation Management, Tracheostomy Care, CPAP and BiPAP Management

- Skin Assessment, Wound Prevention Measures, Classification and Staging of Pressure Ulcers, Arterial Ulcers, Venous Stasis Ulcers, Diabetic Foot Ulcers. Treatment Measures and Wound Care Products, Wound Care terminology

- Clinical Applications, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Heart Failure, Diabetes Home Care, Bladder Dysfunction, Indwelling Urinary Catheter Management, Enteral Feeding via G-tubes and J-tubes

Neurological Dysfunction, Care of Stroke Patients, Patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Patients with Alzheimer’s Type Dementia

- Patients Receiving Home Infusion Therapy, Management of Central Venous Access Devices, Total Parenteral Nutrition Administration, Peripheral IV Access
