A variety of topics are thoroughly covered in this course to better understand the evolution of respiratory disorders as well as preventative steps and treatment currently in use.



Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss the risk factors and signs and symptoms of respiratory disease.

2. Discuss the etiology, pathophysiology, assessment, and management of atelectasis, pneumonia, ARDS, COPD, asthma, pulmonary edema, and pulmonary embolism.

3. Analyze examples of arterial blood gas results and determine the symptoms of respiratory acidosis and respiratory alkalosis.

4. Discuss the use of pulse oximetry and end-tidal CO2 waveform capnography in assessing respiratory function.
