The AHA Airway Management course is a unique course designed to give students the change to learn, practice, and demonstrate their ability in applying many airway skills used in resuscitation. Students increase their awareness of various airway products and skills required.

This course is designed into units, and some are optional, so instructors can present the units that meet the students’ needs.  The course provides training for:

  • Healthcare providers whose occupation or volunteer activities require airway management skills.
  • Professionals in the field of resuscitation and airway management
  • Bag-mask ventilation and airway adjuncts

Optional:

  • Laryngeal mask airway
  • Esophageal-tracheal combitube
  • Endotracheal tube
  • Impedance threshold devise

In the classroom, an Airway Management instructor conducts video-guided instruction and skill demonstrations, and works with students to complete hands-on skills practice and skills testing.

Product Requirements

Course Completion:

  • Students must be present on campus throughout the full course to receive a certificate of completion and CEU units. If there is an absence the student will be rescheduled for another class to complete the full class time.
  • Written and skills exams are required for completion card.
  • Certificate of Completion provided day of course upon successful completion. This course does not provide AHA course card certification, but instead is designed solely to enhance students’ airway management skills.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, GMEC students are welcome back to take any or all of this course again at a later date to sharpen and brush up their skills, at no cost! Arrangements must be made with the GMEC office ahead of class.

Please note:

  • Manual: Students receive the manual on-site. student may request to have the manual sent prior to the course date for pre-course study and will incur a shipping cost. Please allow one week for shipping since this manual must be obtained prior to course.
  • Students must wear closed-toed shoes or they will not be allowed in class.
  • Our primary goal is to provide the highest quality of instruction and education to each of our students, and to help ensure the safety of their future patients.

Reschedule, No Show, and Cancellation and Refund Policies 

It is the students’ responsibility to notify GMEC by email or phone that they cannot make the class.

The Reschedule Policy allows students to reschedule their course one time at no cost or be placed on a To Be Determined roster with a one year limit from the time of original course registration. Rescheduling must be completed at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class. Subsequent rescheduling will incur a $20 processing fee. No refunds are available after rescheduling and the amount paid remains as a credit.

The No Show Policy refers to students who have paid for a course and do not call ahead to reschedule, cancel, or request a refund prior to the class. A student who does not contact GMEC to cancel their course or does not show up for the course will forfeit all fees paid. No Shows do not qualify for a refund or a reschedule. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this policy.

The Cancellation and Refund Policy states that students may cancel a course up to 72 hours prior to the start date. A $20 fee will be charged for the class that was canceled.  Refund requests will be honored when made prior to 72 hours of the course start time. Within 72 hours of course date, any payments made are not refundable. Due to the unique Course Package discount rates, packages are not eligible for full refund. Refunds will be processed within 5 to 7 working days from the time we received the notification of a class will be cancelled. A check will be mailed for the refund.

GMEC strives to ensure every option is explored before rescheduling or cancelling a scheduled class. We do not make the decision to cancel classes lightly and do our best to take every precaution we have available to us to prevent taking such an action. However, should backup instructors be unavailable to teach a scheduled class, advanced notice will always be attempted. Should advanced notice be impossible, in the unlikely case of a cancellation or rescheduling, GMEC will honor each student's credit and will reschedule the class within a reasonable time. GMEC is not responsible for any loss of revenue, wages, hotel or travel expenses, or damages resulting from a canceled or rescheduled class.

Notification process if class is cancelled: Participant will be notified by email as quickly as possible.
