GMEC’s AHA Online PALS Provider/Update Course On-Site Skills Tests  provides students an option to participate in a PALS CPR course including AED that is a mix of online and on-site PALS course work. The online portion of this option may be taken at the student’s schedule to fit individual needs at anytime, anywhere.  Upon successful completion of the online portion of the ACLS course, the student contacts GMEC by phone at 714-577-0187, or by email at genesismec@gmail.com to set up a short on-site Skills Test. Times for the Skills Test are very flexible and available during the week or weekends. This course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency in or out of a hospital setting. GMEC’s PALS Update course is a LOW-STRESS, hands-on experience taught by veteran instructors in a state of the art facility utilizing the most up-to-date equipment and techniques.

The LOW-STRESS Mega Code portion of our course is a hands-on set of simulated clinical scenarios where vital life-saving skills are practiced first as an individual, then as part of a team leader, and finally as a team leader.

As an American Heart Association authorized provider, the GMEC PALS course focuses on these core concepts:

  • Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cario-pulmonary arrest
  • The systemic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Effective respiratory management
  • Validate skills for 1 and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infants and child
  • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
  • Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

Product Requirements

Course Completion:

  • Students must be present on campus throughout the full course to receive a certificate of completion and CEU units. If there is an absence the student will be rescheduled for another class to complete the full class time.
  • Written and skills exams are required for completion card.
  • AHA PALS Provider Cards are awarded upon the successful completion of the AHA PALS exam and skills test, and is valid for 2 years. Depending on availability, physical or e-Cards will be provided on site, same day.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, GMEC students are welcome back to take any or all of this course again at a later date to sharpen and brush up their skills, at no cost! Arrangements must be made with the GMEC office ahead of class.

Please note:

  • Students MUST purchase the 2010 PALS Provider Manual (New Manual will not be available until October of 2016) in order to complete an PALS class.
  • Students may request to have the manual sent prior to the course date for pre-course study and will incur a shipping cost. Please allow one week for shipping since this manual must be obtained prior to course.
  • Manuals may be purchased on site or for a more cost effective option please contact our office.
  • AHA PALS eBook Manual: Student supplied table or laptop required to use in class, wifi available.
  • Students must bring to class the PALS 2010 Guidelines course manual, their old PALS card as proof to qualify for renewal if applicable, and license number for licensed professionals to collect CEU’s if applicable
  • THE PRECOURSE SELF-ASSESSMENT IS NOW REQUIRED BY THE AHA AND MUST BE COMPLETED/PASSED BEFORE THE COURSE. PLEASE BRING CERTIFICATE TO CLASS
    • Per the AHA If you forget your Pre-course self assessment test or do not pass with 70% or higher you will need to reschedule.
    • Students must wear closed-toed shoes or they will not be allowed in class.

Reschedule, No Show, and Cancellation and Refund Policies 

It is the students’ responsibility to notify GMEC by email or phone that they cannot make the class.

The Reschedule Policy allows students to reschedule their course one time at no cost or be placed on a To Be Determined roster with a one year limit from the time of original course registration. Rescheduling must be completed at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class. Subsequent rescheduling will incur a $20 processing fee. No refunds are available after rescheduling and the amount paid remains as a credit.

The No Show Policy refers to students who have paid for a course and do not call ahead to reschedule, cancel, or request a refund prior to the class. A student who does not contact GMEC to cancel their course or does not show up for the course will forfeit all fees paid. No Shows do not qualify for a refund or a reschedule. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this policy.

The Cancellation and Refund Policy states that students may cancel a course up to 72 hours prior to the start date. A $20 fee will be charged for the class that was canceled.  Refund requests will be honored when made prior to 72 hours of the course start time. Within 72 hours of course date, any payments made are not refundable. Due to the unique Course Package discount rates, packages are not eligible for full refund. Refunds will be processed within 5 to 7 working days from the time we received the notification of a class will be cancelled. A check will be mailed for the refund.

GMEC strives to ensure every option is explored before rescheduling or cancelling a scheduled class. We do not make the decision to cancel classes lightly and do our best to take every precaution we have available to us to prevent taking such an action. However, should backup instructors be unavailable to teach a scheduled class, advanced notice will always be attempted. Should advanced notice be impossible, in the unlikely case of a cancellation or rescheduling, GMEC will honor each student's credit and will reschedule the class within a reasonable time. GMEC is not responsible for any loss of revenue, wages, hotel or travel expenses, or damages resulting from a canceled or rescheduled class.

Notification process if class is cancelled: Participant will be notified by email as quickly as possible.
