Cancellation, Withdrawal & Refund Policy

The following policy is required to be used only for vocational programs.

STUDENT’S RIGHT TO CANCEL: CANCELLATION, WITHDRAWAL, AND REFUND POLICY: The student has the right to cancel the enrollment agreement and obtain a refund of charges paid if notice of cancellation is made through attendance at the first class session, or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever is later. Cancellation up through the end of the first day the student receives a full refund minus non-refundable amounts. Cancellation occurs when the student notifies the administration in writing with a request to cancel from the school by email to admin@genesismec.com. After the first day of class, if the student chooses to leave the program this is a withdrawal. Withdrawal occurs when the student notifies the administration in writing with a request to withdraw from the school by email to admin@genesismec.com. If the withdrawal occurs during a period of attendance, then the refund policy for students who have completed 60 percent or less of the period of attendance is a pro rata refund. After 60 percent of the course has been completed there is no refund. For withdrawal, any textbooks, equipment or supplies must be returned in unused condition to receive a refund. The school will refund any money paid, less application fee and other non-refundable fees within 45 days after the notice is received.If the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of monies not paid from federal student financial aid program funds.

Refund requests will be honored when made prior to 72 hours of the course start time minus any non-refundable charge. The school will refund any money paid, less non-refundable fees within 15 days after the notice is received. Cancellation occurs when the student notifies the administration in writing with a request to cancel from the school by email to admin@genesismec.com. After the class has started, if the student chooses to leave the course this is a withdrawal. Withdrawal occurs when the student notifies the administration in writing with a request to withdraw from the school by email to admin@genesismec.com. For courses longer than 12 hours or taught over more than one class day, students withdrawing on or before hour 12 or before the second class day, shall be granted either a 50% refund (minus a $50 admin fee) of tuition charges, or for students wishing to reschedule the course at a later date, a credit for all charges paid. GMC will honor the credit for a period not to exceed 12 months. Students who withdraw from courses shorter than 12 instructional hours or courses taught within a single class day, are not eligible for a refund of charges paid. For withdrawal, any textbooks, equipment or supplies must be returned in unused condition to receive a refund. If the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of monies not paid from federal student financial aid program funds.


COVID-19

Genesis Medical College remained open throughout 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide essential training to frontline healthcare workers. GMC remains committed to providing support to organizations and individuals within California, nationally, and internationally. GMC continues to provide hybrid education to expand accessibility. We look forward to a productive and exciting year of learning in 2021.
The situation surrounding COVID-19 has rapidly evolved. Based on the demand from students along with guidance from various health organizations and licensing agencies, Genesis Medical Education Consultants has decided to temporarily transition to online learning. The decision was made to help mitigate and slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community, protect those that are vulnerable to the illness, and reduce the potential of individuals being infected.

Starting Monday, March 16, 2020, to Sunday, March 29, 2020 (or earlier depending on the situation), classroom based courses will be transitioned to a hybrid or 100% online delivery. For those essential activities that cannot be delivered online, such as clinical, laboratory, exams, etc., students may be required to be on campus. Additional precautions will be made to reduce the risk of transmission. Online courses will continue without interruption.

For Instructors and Students

GMC is providing training and workshops to provide support during this transition.During this transition, the campus will remain open where essential support will be available for student support.

Please make sure to prepare for online learning by having a reliable computer and internet connection.

The Governor had issued Executive Order N-33-30 that orders all individuals living or residing in the state of California to shelter at home except to maintain operations of a critical federal infrastructure as outlined here. In response to this order, GMC will be moving essential operations to remote support.

IV Therapy And Blood Withdrawal

This is for LVNs. Yes we are. You can search for GMC on the BVNPT’s website here as an approved continuing education provider of both IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification.
LVNs receive 36 CEHs for this course.

RNs receive a certificate of completion, however, there are no CEs available. This is a great refresher course for RNs. RNs who complete this course are typically those looking to refresh their skills to remain current, to prepare to re-enter the workforce, or other personal or professional reason.

The EMT version of the course provides 16 CEHs.
For LVNs, the IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal is 36 hours long. This is compliant with the BVNPT’s guidelines. The 36 hours of this class are done under supervision of an instructor. Generally, the schedule is a 3-day, 12-hour day that begins at 7:00am and provides 12 hours of instruction. As long as your license remains current, once completed then you do not have to renew this certification.

For RNs, the class is 36 hours long. The 36 hours of this class are done under supervision of an instructor. Generally, the schedule is a 3-day, 12-hour day that begins at 7:00am and provides 12 hours of instruction. For EMTs, the class is 24 hours long. The 24 hours of this class are done under supervision of an instructor. Generally, the schedule is a 2-day, 12-hour day that begins at 7:00am and provides 12 hours of instruction.

EMT are not permitted to complete live skills as this is not within their scope of practice. They may attend the laboratory to watch and be a proxy, but may not perform the skill.
Yes, upon course completion LVNs and EMTs receive a Certificate of Continuing Education indicating the number of CEHs. RNs and midwives receive a Certificate of Completion.
This applies to LVNs only. The cost of state licensure is included in the tuition. GMC sends out copies of necessary paperwork to the BVNPT notifying them that you completed this certification course. The BVNPT usually processes paperwork anywhere between 3 to five months. Your status as Board Certified in IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal will appear on the Breeze website.

All other healthcare providers manage their certification process individually.
This certification is valid for as long as you are a practicing LVN and your license does not lapse.
You will be required to perform at least three venipunctures on a fellow student. You will also have venipuncture performed on you by a fellow student in this course.
You must notify the instructor and staff that you cannot be stuck. You may be able to bring a proxy to be stuck in your place, or for you to test on directly if you cannot participate in this portion of this course. You must perform multiple sticks under the supervision of an instructor successfully in order to pass this class.

This is for LVNs. Yes, you can take the IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal course as long as you are in school to become an LVN, or you have taken the State Boards and do not yet have your VN number. Upon course completion, you will be issued a temporary certificate that can be shown to your employer or potential employer. Your actual certificate will be issued once you supply us with your California state issued LVN number, and the appropriate paperwork will be sent to you and submitted to the state. We recommend that you keep the original for documentation purposes as there may be a replacement fee charged to reissue a certificate.
No, the course curriculum ranges from novice to intermediate skill sets. This course builds the skill set and confidence in the workplace for any qualified healthcare provider.


Phlebotomy

The state requires that a CDPH-LFS approved training program be completed. For the CPTI license the National Certification Exam and a 40-hour minimum of clinical hours in an approved laboratory.
CDPH-LFS approves 3 levels of phlebotomy licensure.

GMC provides support for the 3 levels of phlebotomy licensure. GMC offers approved courses for Limited Phlebotomy Technician and Certified Phlebotomy Technician I licensure. GMC helps prepare qualified candidates for Certified Phlebotomy Technician II licensure.

The Limited Phlebotomy program can be completed with 20 hours of program attendance and successful skills completion. The Phlebotomy Technician I program has 3 components: approved course, National Certification Exam, and clinical hours. See the schedule for the program duration. The National Certification Exam and clinical hours depend on the student progression timeline and provides flexibility to meet student needs.
