The Basic IV Therapy Theory and Knowledge for EMTs course is designed to meet Orange County Emergency Medical Services (OCEMS) continuing education requirements. This comprehensive three-day course provides EMTs with foundational knowledge in IV therapy and blood withdrawal, emphasizing safety, theory, and clinical decision-making in prehospital care settings.

This course prepares EMTs’ for IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certificate of Completion
This course prepares EMTs to understand and apply IV therapy and blood withdrawal concepts within their scope of practice while responding effectively to emergency situations.

- Safety and infection control
- Anatomy and physiology
- Fluids and electrolyte balance
- IV and blood withdrawal equipment
- Dermal puncture and venipuncture procedures
- Complications and patient monitoring
- Documentation and legal considerations
- Advanced theory including PICC lines, central lines, and infusion pumps
