This Program Prepares LVNs for IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification
This course is approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) and fulfills the state requirements for LVN IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification.
You’ll build the knowledge and skills needed to safely initiate, maintain, and document IV therapy and blood withdrawal procedures in a variety of clinical settings. Students perform live venipuncture procedures under instructor supervision.

- Anatomy and physiology
- Fluid and electrolyte balance
- Equipment, procedures, and management for dermal puncture and venipuncture
- Complications and documentation
- Legal and regulatory aspects
- Advanced theory: maintaining PICC lines, central lines, pumps, and more
